A busy season last year for the entire team, and no exception for Rob, who found that much to the chagrin of his ever-supportive wife Erin, he was racing almost every weekend.  But then again, for Rob it felt almost like the heydays of the late 80’s and early 90’s when he raced for what he then thought was going to be a career, traveling around the country and living off race winnings and generous sponsor support.  Nowadays, it’s nice to have a real job and a paycheck, but the racing has been great; stress relief, and an outlet for everyday troubles and anxieties.

It was a good year for the man from Howell, he found some great form and won a race, despite his busy family calendar, and along the way gave some self-gratifying support and sacrifice to his teammates to allow them the win or place on the podium.

Rob would of course like to thank his very supportive wife, Erin.  Thank you for all her sacrifices.  Thank you for those weekends driving to races and cheering on her grateful, loving husband.  Thank you for those late dinners on Wednesday nights after getting back from a tough team training ride. And thank you for those anxious feelings when he was racing in a tight, twisty pack of 135 racers at the USCF Criterium Nationals, where he performed beyond his own expectations in a field mainly consisting of riders 10 years or more his junior.

Now that he has a new addition to his family, a 18 month old beagle named Harry, Rob plans to fine–tune his form this year more in keeping with a hectic work and social schedule, emphasizing quality rather than quantity and picking high profile events to peak for, rather then trying to maintain a consistent level of fitness throughout the season.  Of course, there will still be a few late Wednesday nights, because the Wednesday night ride in Ann Arbor is the best and the toughest in the Midwest…
