| At
the end of the 2004 season Tom had been hit by a car while out on a
training ride. After a
long rough recovery he was able to finally get out during the winter
months to train on his skis and finally his bike.
The 2005 racing season started a bit slower than normal with
his daughter in daycare and bringing home many more “germs” than
normal, Tom was constantly getting sinus infections.
The summer
mont
hs proved to be a bit better when
he traveled to
Ohio
for the Ceaser Creek race events with his teammate Brian.
Tom had a great circuit race taking 2nd behind
Brian, and followed it up with a solid 2nd place behind
ex-national champ
Pau
l Martin.
The
inaugural Fenton road race was held in late July and proved to be a
good race course for Tom. He
broke away with a small group in the first mile, attacked with one
other guy after 1 lap, and rode away from his competitor in the last
mile to take the hard fought win.
Tom
would like to thank his wonderful wife, Heather for all her support
over the years and especially this past season.
It was a whole new experience for all having to bring a “toddler”
to the races, but she proved to be able to handle everything…..”toddler”,
dog and water hand-ups!
